Clergy Thoughts The 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A reminds us that God brings hope even in difficult times. Many people feel like they are in darkness at times. Life can be full of struggles, disappointments, and uncertainties. However, the message of this Sunday draws our attention to the fact that God’s light is still shining, in the Church and in our world today. Jesus is present, bringing hope and calling people to trust in Him. For He teaches, heals, and calls us to follow Him. May we be true followers of the Lord, amidst the challenges and struggles of this life. Amen! Fr Alex
ANIMA CHRISTI – Please check the first page of the Hymn Book for the prayer.

Pray with the Pope Each month throughout 2026, Pope Leo XIV will invite the Church to pray for a specific intention, touching on both global challenges—such as peace and disarmament—and issues within the life of the Church, including evangelisation. The initiative continues the legacy of The Pope’s Video, launched ten years ago by Pope Francis and viewed over 260 million times worldwide. Film Afternoon. Sunday 8 Feb at 3 pm. The Choral. Starring Ralph Fiennes and written by Alan Bennett. Enjoy a free showing of this recent very popular film set in 1916. Based in Yorkshire, the chorus master and most of the men of the local Choral Society have volunteered for the Front. Under the new Director, the Choral recruits a crop of young boys and girls who together discover the joys of singing. A great mix of humour, seriousness and music. No tickets for this one, but a donation for tea and biscuits very welcome.
Future events: Saturday 7 March. Bingo and Jacket Potatoes. Eyes down for an entertaining and fun evening and a tasty supper. Details later.
Wednesday 25 March. The Waveney Choir. Return of this talented local choir to perform Feel the Spirit – a cycle of 7 well known spirituals, plus other pieces related to the Easter season. Enjoy an uplifting evening of great music. More details later.
