Parish News

A warm welcome to everyone. Tea and coffee are served after the 10.00am Mass on Sundays and the 09.30 Mass on Wednesdays; all are invited to join us. Father Alex offers a warm welcome to anyone who is visiting the parish this week.

Clergy Thoughts: In today's 27th Sunday of OT, Jesus returns to the Old Testament symbol of the vineyard to teach about Israel, the Church, and the kingdom of God. God is the owner, the house of Israel is the vineyard, and Jesus uses Isaiah’s words to describe it. We are each a vine in the Lord’s vineyard, grafted onto the true vine of Christ called to bear fruits that will last. May we not let ourselves be overgrown with the thorns and briars of worldly anxieties, and may we be true vines in the Lord’s vineyard.  Amen! Fr Alex

October Rosary Month: Rosary prayers 15min before Mass: Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays Morning/Evening & Sundays. Anyone can lead. Wednesday (Glorious Mystery), Friday (Sorrowful Mystery), Saturday (Joyful Mystery), Sunday (Glorious or any Mystery), Thursday (Luminous Mystery).

Next weekend we welcome Fr Peter Brett who will be covering for Fr Alex.

Thank you: A big Thank You to everyone who supported our Golden Jubilee Celebration. It involved months of advance planning. I won’t name people (you know who you are), as I will leave someone out by mistake. Thank you again to all our volunteers for the work you do all year round I am very grateful. Fr Alex

Parish celebration of the East Anglian Golden Jubilee last Sunday

Thank you very much for everyone’s support in making this such a happy occasion. This is thanks to the team who organised the event and all those who brought delicious finger food for parishioners and visitors to enjoy. A special thank you to families who brought food to take up at the Offertory and then helped their children with singing at a wonderful conclusion to Mass. The history booklet is available in the community room, and the slide show can be set up after Mass for anyone who missed it. Liz Ball and Lilian Sunderland.

CAFOD Family Fast Day. Please give your support to help children in communities facing severe food and water shortages to stay in education and develop their God-given talents. Children like 12-year-old Talya, who would often arrive at school hungry and tired after fetching water for her family. Local Caritas partners helped her school in northern Zimbabwe build a solar-powered water system, and now there is safe water for drinking and growing vegetables

Sunday 18th October.  Macmillan Coffee Morning following the 10 am Mass. This has been a very successful event in recent years with over £400 raised at St Henry Morse in 2025. As part of the coffee morning, we will have a tombola which has previously been very popular. But this relies on plenty of prizes... So, in the next two weeks please bring along suitable prizes for the tombola and leave them in the marked box in the community room. Many thanks.

Norfolk Churches Trust: Thanks for all the sponsorship received. The total is £270.00

Christmas cards from the SVP will be on sale again this year from 24th October after all Masses. For a sneak preview see this link : https://sthenrymorse.com/?submit=Photo+Archive

Please support the foodbank, please see the food list in porch.

Clocks go back 25th October
